Picture of the week

Here I am officially starting my picture of the week. Yesterday we had the most beautiful Painted Bunting visit our feeders. He was a hard one to get a good photo of. He is the most colorful bird of the U.S. I've heard. His back is lime green, belly bright orange, head bluish purple and a different green on his wings. It's a real joy to see one. Although the books say they are common, around here they are not. Here he is in the best photos I could get.

    They are beautifl birds aren't they? We used to get them at our feeders in IL.

    wow! gorgeous bird! I've been thinking about buying a little parrot. though, I do still have another cat. probably should wait. youre lucky to have them there!

    Fabulous! If I ever got a bird that looked like that at my feeder, I'd keel over! Amazing colors. Thanks for sharing those.

    Nice pictures Carla.
    We had a painted bunting at our bird bath a few years ago. I had to look it up in my book because I had never seen one before or since. They are beautiful.

    Carla, I love your bird posts. You are such a fascinating woman. I laughed when you said I looked good in a dress - I did when I was 20! Now I am like you, a circus tent with a head - still wear them though! Laugh clowns laung! E

    Carla, he is gorgeous! I try to take photos of our back yard visitors but rarely do they pose long enough for me to get the camera! Good job on photographing such a beauty and thanks for sharing!
