It's so beautiful!!! We've been in Florida for 11 years and this is the first time I've seen one. They are very common but very reclusive. They are usually 8 to 12 inches long. This one is about 6 inches. They are harmless and make no attempt to bite. When disturbed, they often coil up their tails to show the bright color underneath.
Oh, he's beautiful! Very striking colorations. I'm so glad you got a chance to get his picture!
ReplyDeleteAwasome snake. My dd would love to see this live. She likes all things that creep, and slither.
ReplyDeleteThe color is great on the snake, but I have to say that I am so glad that I am seeing it in a picture and not my backyard!
ReplyDeleteYes, well he is beautiful, certainly the most colorful snake I've seen. Are you keeping him as a pet?
ReplyDeleteWhat a great snake...... well I cant say how I would react if I run into one of them in nature. We barly have any of those wild creepers

ReplyDeleteStriking colours!
ReplyDeleteHe resembles the Australian Red Belly Black snake which are native to Australia and, while a placid snake, are still quite venomous.
EEEEP! I don't like snakes. Though his colouring is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteooooooh Pretty (IN the jar *lol*)
ReplyDeleteWait- it's a Halloween snake *winks*
Hugs!
he is halloween colored! If a snake can be pretty.. then yes, he is a pretty snake!
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat snake. Love the colors on it.:)
ReplyDeleteWe had one of those in the yard a while back but didn't know the underside was so colorful. That's cool.
ReplyDeleteSnakes give me the shivers!!
ReplyDeleteIt is really nice to see someone else appreciate snakes instead of being afraid of them. This is a gorgeous snake!! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI thought these were fake! I loved the rubber ones as a child and always put them around where I thought real snakes where go.
ReplyDeleteewww ewww ewww....I so do not like snakes no matter what pretty colour they are...agghhhh...you are brave and I don't care if it is harmless.
